Location: County Durham

About the Role

Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident, supportive, and motivated KS2 Teaching Assistant to work across a range of primary schools in County Durham.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to support pupils in Years 3–6, working closely with class teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences.

Demand across Durham primary schools varies throughout the year, so we can offer flexible supply, long-term placements, and opportunities for ongoing work based on your experience and availability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning across KS2 (Years 3–6).
  • Deliver small-group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and preparation for SATs.
  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils who may require additional guidance.
  • Assist with classroom management and promote positive behaviour.
  • Help prepare learning resources and contribute to the organisation of the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff.
  • Adapt confidently to different school settings and year groups.

✅ Key Requirements

  • Ideally a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Experience working within KS2 or upper primary is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
  • Confident in supporting with English, maths, and SATs preparation.
  • A positive, proactive approach and the ability to build good relationships with pupils.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
  • Flexibility to work across different primary schools in the Durham area.
