Job description

Are you an experienced and confident Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference?
We are seeking a dedicated individual to support small groups of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a welcoming primary school in Chester‑le‑Street.

About the Role

This full-time position involves providing targeted support to small groups of SEN pupils, helping them to progress academically, socially, and emotionally. You’ll work closely with teachers to implement tailored learning activities and contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high‑quality support to small groups of SEN pupils
  • Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering differentiated activities
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and engagement
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and support needs

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting SEN pupils (primary experience preferred)
  • Confident, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
