Teaching Assistant (Level 2 / Level 3 – SEN Focus)

Salary: £21,972 – £24,561 actual salary (depending on experience)
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time
Location: Cambridgeshire

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Cambridgeshire, supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.


About the Role:

  • Provide in-class and out-of-class support to pupils with additional needs
  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging and accessible learning activities
  • Modify and prepare resources to suit individual learning styles and abilities
  • Encourage positive behaviour, participation, and emotional regulation
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and social skills
  • Support the overall learning environment through a nurturing and structured approach

About the Setting:

This provision caters for children and young people with EHCPs, primarily linked to SEMH. The school takes a holistic approach, focusing equally on emotional wellbeing and educational progress.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A recognised TA qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) or relevant hands-on experience
  • Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English
  • Some experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEN
  • A strong understanding of how to support engagement and learning
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour
  • Ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices
