Job description

SEN Primary School Teaching Assistant – Bury

We are looking for a compassionate and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary school in Bury. You will support pupils with a variety of additional needs, helping them access learning and develop key communication, social and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of inclusive, differentiated lessons

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual learning needs

  • Build strong relationships to encourage engagement and confidence

  • Assist with EHCP targets, learning plans and early intervention strategies

  • Encourage independence, communication and positive behaviour

  • Support personal care and sensory needs when required

  • Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and SEN guidance

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children, ideally within SEN or primary education

  • A nurturing, patient and adaptable approach

  • Full-time availability during school hours

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and inclusive practice

  • Ability to work effectively within a school support team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
