Job description

The role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils and colleagues to provide high-quality support within a safe, nurturing and inclusive school environment.
You will be expected to:

Provide individual and small-group support to pupils with SEN.

Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.

Support pupils with their learning, communication, emotional wellbeing and personal development.
-
Adapt activities and approaches to meet individual needs.
-
Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
-
Work closely with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
-
Follow individual support plans and contribute to pupils' development.
-
Support pupils who may have complex learning, communication, sensory or behavioural needs.

Create a calm, positive and encouraging environment.

Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
About you
We are looking for someone who is patient, compassionate and resilient, with a genuine commitment to supporting children and young people with additional needs.
You will ideally have:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
-
An understanding of autism, communication needs and other additional learning needs.

Experience supporting pupils with individual education or support plans.
-
The ability to adapt your communication and approach to individual pupils.
-
A calm and consistent approach to supporting behaviour.
-
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
-
A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
-
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
Experience within a specialist school, SEN setting, mainstream school with an SEN provision, care environment or similar setting would be particularly valuable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
