Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). Our school provides a nurturing, stimulating environment where every child is valued, supported, and encouraged to engage with the world around them in meaningful ways.
This role is ideal for someone with a naturally nurturing, playful personality who enjoys building strong, trusting relationships with children and celebrating even the smallest achievements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with PMLD in their daily learning, development, and wellbeing
- Help create a warm, engaging, and playful learning environment
- Assist in delivering sensory-based and interactive activities tailored to individual needs
- Support communication through gestures, sensory tools, and assistive methods
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support individual education plans
- Provide personal care where required, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene support
- Ensure students feel safe, respected, and encouraged throughout the school day

- Be comfortable providing personal care and supporting students with complex physical needs
- Be attentive, empathetic, and able to respond to non-verbal communication
- Work well as part of a supportive team
- Remain calm, positive, and adaptable in a busy school environment
Experience
- Experience working with children or individuals with additional needs is essential
Experience with PMLD and complex needs is advantageous

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
