Are you a passionate Food and Nutrition specialist who enjoys combining practical cookery with meaningful learning about nutrition, health and food science?
Teaching Personnel is supporting a successful and growing secondary school in the Basingstoke area with the appointment of an enthusiastic Teacher of Food and Nutrition.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking Technology department where Food and Nutrition is popular with students. You will teach both practical and theory lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop valuable culinary skills, nutritional knowledge and confidence.

About the Department
The Food and Nutrition department benefits from two large, well-equipped teaching kitchens and dedicated technician support. Students follow practical Food and Technology modules throughout Years 7 and 8, with opportunities to continue studying Technology in Year 9 and at GCSE.
Technology subjects are popular across the school, with strong GCSE option numbers and a collaborative team that shares resources and planning to strengthen provision and support staff workload.
The Role
As a Teacher of Food and Nutrition, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging theory and practical lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Teach nutrition, food science, preparation and cooking techniques
- Support students in developing confidence and independence in the kitchen
- Prepare learners for GCSE assessment and practical work
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and practical safety
- Adapt teaching for different abilities and additional needs
- Work collaboratively within the wider Technology team
- Contribute to extracurricular activities and school enrichment
- Build positive relationships and promote high academic standards
The Ideal Candidate
You will:
- Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Be a Food and Nutrition specialist with strong subject knowledge
- Be confident teaching the subject through to KS4
- Deliver safe, purposeful and engaging practical lessons
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
- Build positive relationships with students
- Be reflective, creative and willing to develop your practice
- Be committed to safeguarding and student welfare
