Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Classical Studies Teacher to join our supply pool. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students through the study of the ancient world and its languages, literature, and culture.

The Role

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and well-structured Classical Studies lessons. There may be opportunities to teach Latin and/or Ancient Greek, depending on experience and timetabling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Classical Studies across the relevant age and ability range

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that inspire curiosity and academic rigour

  • Assess, track, and support student progress

  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities

  • Support extracurricular opportunities such as clubs, trips, or competitions

  • Work collaboratively within the department and wider school community

Essential Requirements

  • A strong academic background in Classical Studies or a related subject

  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for the ancient world

  • Strong classroom practice and communication skills

  • Commitment to high standards of teaching and learning

Desirable Qualities

  • Ability to teach Latin

  • Ability to teach Ancient Greek

  • Experience teaching classical subjects at secondary level

  • Familiarity with GCSE and/or A Level specifications

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
