Teaching Personnel is working with an inclusive and ambitious secondary school to recruit a creative and enthusiastic Art Teacher.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive department offering a broad and practical Art curriculum. The successful candidate will inspire students to experiment with different techniques, develop their creative confidence and produce work that reflects their individual ideas.

The Art Curriculum

Art plays an important role in the curriculum, encouraging students to think independently, explore creative ideas and evaluate their own work.

At KS3, students experience a range of techniques and media, including:

• Drawing, painting and collage
• Printing and mixed media
• Clay and three-dimensional construction
• Graphic communication and digital design
• Textiles, embroidery and batik

At GCSE, students develop personal portfolios through coursework and practical examination projects, supported by regular guidance and constructive feedback.

The Role

As an Art Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver engaging Art lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Teach a range of practical techniques and creative processes
• Take responsibility for planning, marking and assessment
• Support students with GCSE coursework and portfolio development
• Introduce students to different artists, movements and cultures
• Encourage experimentation and creative independence
• Adapt teaching for different abilities and additional needs
• Maintain a safe, organised and inspiring classroom
• Contribute to exhibitions, enrichment and departmental planning

The Ideal Candidate

You will:

• Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised qualification
• Have strong knowledge of the secondary Art curriculum
• Be confident teaching across KS3 and KS4
• Understand GCSE assessment and portfolio development
• Inspire students with different abilities and starting points
• Demonstrate effective classroom management
• Be organised, imaginative and collaborative
• Be committed to safeguarding and student welfare
