Teacher in Charge – Primary Alternative Provision

Full-Time

A specialist Alternative Provision in Chichester is seeking an experienced, passionate and dedicated Teacher in Charge to lead its Primary provision from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational educator and leader to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children who require a more personalised, nurturing and therapeutic approach to education.

The Role

The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day running of the Primary provision, leading a small team to deliver high-quality teaching, positive behaviour support and a safe, supportive learning environment for pupils with a range of additional needs, including SEMH and associated challenges.

You will play a key role in shaping the provision, supporting staff development, building strong relationships with families and external professionals, and ensuring pupils are able to achieve both academically and emotionally.

This role combines teaching responsibilities with leadership and operational oversight.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has experience working with primary-aged pupils
  • Has strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team
  • Understands SEMH, trauma-informed practice and inclusive education
  • Can build positive and consistent relationships with pupils
  • Is calm, resilient and solution-focused
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Experience within Alternative Provision, SEN or specialist settings is highly desirable
