Job Title: Support Worker / Teaching Assistant

Location: St Albans (Various sites available)

Contract Type: Full-time and Part-time roles available

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker / Teaching Assistant to join a large college we support in St Albans. In this role, you will support students with diverse learning needs, helping them access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Support: Provide tailored one-to-one or small-group support within the classroom.
  • Instructional Assistance: Collaborate with class teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • SEN Specialism: Support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Personal Care: Provide assistance with personal care and hygiene where required.
  • Inclusion: Promote positive behavior and foster an inclusive learning environment.
  • Progress Tracking: Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team.
  • Holistic Support: Assist students during practical activities, break times, and off-site educational trips.

Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people is preferred.
  • SEN Knowledge: A baseline understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) is highly desirable.
  • Personal Care: A willingness to provide personal care (including assisting with toileting) is essential for this role.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills paired with a patient, empathetic, and reliable nature.
  • Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Qualifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are an advantage but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
