Job description

Support Worker – Specialist Education Setting

Location: Totton, Hampshire
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Working pattern: 5 days per week (Monday–Friday)

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Support Worker to work within a specialist education provision in Totton. This setting supports young people aged 11–19 with additional needs, including autism and associated complex needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in young people’s lives and has previous experience in a similar role.

The Role:

  • Supporting students with autism and additional needs in a classroom setting

  • Assisting with learning activities and differentiated tasks

  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Supporting communication, social development and independence skills

  • Working closely with teaching staff and therapists to meet individual EHCP targets

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Support Worker, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), or in a similar support-based role

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (desirable)

  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (mandatory)
