Supply SEN Teaching Assistant – Supply Days

Location: Plymouth & Surrounding Areas
Start: January 2026
Setting: Specialist SEN Schools & Alternative Provisions
Ideal for: Individuals passionate about supporting pupils with SEND on a full-day supply basis

Are you compassionate, adaptable and ready to make a meaningful impact across SEN schools in Plymouth? If so, this supply role could be the perfect fit.

We are seeking committed Supply SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of SEN settings on a full-day basis (8:30am–3:30pm). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and wants the flexibility to choose the days they work, while still providing meaningful support to pupils with a wide range of additional needs—including Autism, SEMH, ADHD, communication needs, and complex learning difficulties.

You will receive a mix of morning calls, pre-booked placements, and same-day opportunities, depending on your availability.

The Role

As a Supply SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils individually or in small groups

  • Assist with personalised learning activities set by teachers or SENCOs

  • Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and emotional regulation

  • Help pupils with communication, social interaction, and daily routines

  • Adapt quickly to new school environments and pupil needs

  • Build supportive, professional relationships with pupils and staff across multiple schools

Your support will help create safe, structured, and nurturing learning environments—wherever you are placed.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEND

  • Is flexible, reliable, and confident working in different school settings

  • Is calm, patient, and passionate about supporting vulnerable learners

  • Can respond to morning calls and short-notice bookings

  • Is able to work full days (8:30am–3:30pm) when accepting placements

  • Works well independently and as part of a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
