Job description

Are you a graduate or experienced educator with a strong subject specialism looking to gain further experience in secondary schools? We are seeking confident, knowledgeable and adaptable Subject Specialist Cover Supervisors to support a range of vibrant secondary schools across Brent.

This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers, experienced cover supervisors, instructors or graduates with strong subject knowledge who are looking to make a real impact in the classroom while maintaining flexibility.

The Role

As a Subject Specialist Cover Supervisor, you will:

• Deliver pre set lessons across your specialist subject area (e.g. Maths, English, Science, Humanities, MFL or PE)
• Maintain a positive, focused and purposeful classroom environment
• Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies
• Ensure students remain on task and complete work to the expected standard
• Provide clear explanations where appropriate within your subject expertise
• Report back to teaching staff on pupil progress and behaviour

Unlike general cover, this role allows you to utilise your subject knowledge to confidently support learning and add value to the department.

About You

We are looking for individuals who:

• Hold a degree or strong A Level background in a core or foundation subject
• Have experience working with young people in a school or educational setting
• Are confident managing behaviour across KS3 and KS4
• Have excellent communication skills
• Are considering teacher training or a long term career in education
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability and adaptability

If you have prior experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor or Unqualified Teacher, this would be highly advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
