KS3 Student Support Assistant (SEN / Autism Focus)

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist education provider to recruit a Student Support Assistant to work with Key Stage 3 pupils.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and compassionate individual looking to support young people with autism and additional needs in a structured and nurturing educational setting.

The Role:

• Provide day-to-day support for students in both academic and pastoral areas
• Assist in delivering learning activities alongside teaching staff
• Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, social development, and engagement
• Help prepare teaching materials and maintain a well-organised learning environment
• Supervise pupils during unstructured times such as breaks and lunchtimes
• Accompany students on educational visits and activities
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent and high-quality support

This is a specialist provision supporting students with additional needs, including autism, with a strong focus on creating a calm, supportive, and inclusive environment.

The setting promotes a holistic approach to education, balancing academic learning with emotional and therapeutic support, ensuring pupils feel safe, understood, and empowered to succeed.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have previous experience supporting students within Key Stage 3
• Demonstrate a strong interest in supporting young people with autism or additional needs
• Be patient, adaptable, and resilient in their approach
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Be confident building positive, consistent relationships with students
• Show a genuine commitment to supporting both learning and wellbeing
• Understand the importance of safeguarding and inclusive practice
