Teacher of Computer Science (STEM Horizons) – Part Time (0.5 FTE)
Peterborough Area | September 2026 Start

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a highly regarded independent secondary school in the Peterborough area to recruit an exceptional Teacher of Computer Science to join their successful STEM faculty from September 2026.

This is a part-time position (0.5 FTE) and offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate and innovative teacher to inspire pupils across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 while contributing to the wider life of a thriving school community.

The Role

Our partner school is seeking a dedicated Computer Science specialist who can deliver engaging and challenging lessons, inspire a love of technology and computational thinking, and support pupils in achieving excellent academic outcomes.

The successful candidate will teach approximately 42 periods per fortnight and will also contribute to the school's strong pastoral and co-curricular programme. The school prides itself on offering a broad educational experience, and staff are encouraged to become actively involved in extracurricular activities that align with their interests and expertise.

The Department

Computer Science plays a key role within the school's STEM curriculum, with pupils developing a strong foundation in computer systems, algorithms, programming and digital literacy from the lower years onwards.

The department delivers the OCR J277 GCSE Computer Science specification and OCR H446 A Level Computer Science. GCSE uptake is strong, with around 65 pupils studying the subject in each year group, while approximately 35 students take the subject at A Level.

Academic standards are exceptionally high, with recent examination results demonstrating excellent outcomes at both GCSE and A Level. Many students progress to Computer Science and related degree programmes at leading universities.

Alongside examination success, the department is committed to developing pupils' problem-solving abilities, logical reasoning and computational thinking skills through a curriculum that encourages creativity, analysis and independent learning.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Strong subject knowledge in Computer Science
  • Experience teaching Computer Science at GCSE level, with A Level experience desirable
  • A commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learning
  • Ability to inspire and motivate pupils of all abilities
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school through pastoral and co-curricular activities
