Sports Coach – Secondary Schools
Location: Oldham and Rochdale
Contract: Full-time / flexible (depending on availability)
Start Date: September 2026
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Sports Coach to work across a network of secondary schools in Oldham and Rochdale from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about physical education and supporting young people’s development across the secondary age range.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality sports and physical activity sessions to pupils aged 11–16, working across multiple secondary school settings. The role involves supporting PE departments, leading structured sessions, and encouraging students to engage positively in sport and physical wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and inclusive sports sessions across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Support students of varying abilities to participate, progress, and develop skills
- Work across multiple secondary school sites in Oldham and Rochdale
- Promote teamwork, resilience, confidence, and healthy lifestyles
- Assist with PE lessons, extracurricular clubs, fixtures, and enrichment activities
- Provide effective behaviour management and maintain a safe, inclusive environment
- Support competitive school sport and inter-school events where required
- Collaborate with teaching staff to support student development and engagement
Person Specification
- Experience working with young people (essential)
- Relevant qualification in sport, coaching, or physical education (essential)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt sessions for different ages, abilities, and needs
- Positive, energetic, and professional approach
- Confidence managing groups of secondary-aged students
- Willingness to travel between school sites

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
