Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for hybrid Sports Coaches and Learning Support Assistants to work with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The School is based just outside Southampton, Hampshire.

The pupils would have come from disadvantaged backgrounds, could be going through the foster care system and/or had some previous trauma which restricts them from accessing mainstream education settings.

The successful applicants will help establish positive and healthy relationships, emotional well-being and developing social skills. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is fancying a change in career or if you have a keen interest in special needs.

We are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about providing the highest standards of care and facilitating opportunities for learning for our wonderful children. Previous experience of looking after children with autism would be an advantage however a can-do attitude and commitment to the children and your team is equally as important.

All roles will be permanent with an immediate start (subject to vetting checks)

About you/role: 

  • Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for learning
  • The ability to build good working relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers.
  • The ability to manage a small group of children with complex social communication needs.
  • The ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment is essential.
  • Plan and support pupils and help them reach their potential in a professional and caring manner
  • Be reliable and punctual when working individually in the community or when part of a team and supporting colleagues to do their jobs
  • Actively plan and join in play and youth activities including swimming, ball games, messy play and music along side supporting in other areas such as Maths, English etc
  • Be prepared to communicate differently with a wide range of people

The Role:

Applicants will be working in a classroom in addition to outdoor activities supporting teachers and fellow support workers on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with pupils

Full time is preferred but part time applicants may still apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
