Location: East London – Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, Waltham Forest
Pay: Competitive (dependent on experience)

Teaching Personnel are seeking Speech & Language Support Assistants to work across a range of primary, secondary and specialist provisions in East London, supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).

This role is ideal for individuals passionate about helping young people develop confidence, communication skills and independence.

Who We’re Looking For

We want candidates with experience or transferable skills in communication and support, including:

  • Speech & Language Support Assistants / SEN TAs
  • Experience supporting pupils with SLCN, ASD or SEMH needs
  • Psychology or Speech & Language graduates
  • Youth Workers with strong communication and mentoring skills
  • Sports Coaches (excellent for engagement and confidence building)

Your Role Will Include:

  • Supporting pupils with speech, language and communication difficulties
  • Delivering targeted speech and language interventions (guided by SENCOs or therapists)
  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to build communication skills
  • Using visual aids, structured communication strategies and engagement techniques
  • Collaborating with teachers, SEN staff and external therapists

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Strong communication, patience and interpersonal skills
  • Genuine interest in speech & language or SEN support
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
