Special Support Officer – Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
Location: Swansea & Carmarthenshire
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (Flexible working available)
Pay: £13.75 per hour
About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Additional Learning Needs? We are currently recruiting Special Support Officers to work across a variety of specialist education settings in Swansea and Carmarthenshire.
These settings cater for pupils with a range of needs, including:

Autism (ASC)
-
Complex learning difficulties
-
Communication needs
-
Social, emotional and behavioural challenges (SEMH)
You will play a vital role in creating a supportive, inclusive environment where pupils can build confidence, develop independence, and gain essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities
-
Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs
-
Support pupils with autism, communication difficulties, and social-emotional needs
-
Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
-
Encourage development of life skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviours
-
Adapt learning activities to ensure engagement and accessibility
About You
We are looking for candidates who:
-
Have experience working with children or young people with ALN (in specialist or mainstream settings)
-
Are patient, empathetic, and resilient
-
Can adapt to different settings and age groups
-
Have strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Are proactive, creative, and committed to inclusive education
Requirements
-
Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
-
Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
-
Safeguarding training (can be provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
