Special Needs Teaching Assistants – Hampshire

Locations: Winchester, Andover, Basingstoke, Farnborough, Hook

We are seeking warm, dependable, and motivated individuals to work as Special Needs Teaching Assistants in specialist schools across Hampshire. You do not need formal qualifications or previous school experience — we welcome applicants from all walks of life who are interested in supporting children with additional needs.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils throughout the school day. This may include helping with learning activities, encouraging positive behaviour, assisting with daily routines, and working closely with teachers and other support staff.

You can choose to work in one of the following settings:

  • SEN Schools – supporting children with autism, physical or learning disabilities, medical needs, or communication difficulties.

  • SEMH Schools – supporting children with social, emotional, or mental health needs, including anxiety, trauma, or behavioural challenges.

We take time to match you to a school environment that suits your interests, strengths, and level of experience.

Who Can Apply?

We welcome applications from anyone with a caring, patient, and supportive approach. Experience in areas such as childcare, care work, youth work, support work, healthcare, or family settings can be helpful, but it is not required. If you are new to this type of role, full training and ongoing support are available.

Role Details

  • Flexible hours – full-time or part-time options

  • Term-time only

  • Pay from £13.75 per hour

  • A Child Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) is required

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
