Location: Great Yarmouth, Norfolk

Supply Bank of Supporting Education Group, a partner of Teaching Personnel, is supporting a specialist school in the Great Yarmouth area to recruit dedicated Primary Teachers, Learning Support Assistants, and SEN Support Staff for supply and longer-term opportunities.

The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, creating a nurturing and supportive environment where children's emotional wellbeing is central to their education. Staff work with pupils who may experience anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, challenging behaviours, and other barriers to learning.

Educators working within this setting are expected to take a therapeutic, trauma-informed and nurturing approach. Building positive relationships, understanding individual needs, and creating a calm and consistent environment are key to helping pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

The Roles

• Support teaching and learning across the primary age range

• Provide classroom, individual and small-group support

• Support pupils with SEN and SEMH needs throughout the school day

• Use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to support emotional regulation

• Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, independence and positive learning behaviours

• Respond calmly and appropriately to anxiety, dysregulation and challenging behaviour

• Build trusting and positive relationships with pupils

• Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and wider support teams

• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

Ideal Candidates Will Have

• QTS or previous experience working in education, SEN, SEMH or support settings

• Experience supporting children with additional or complex needs is desirable

• An understanding of SEMH and the impact of anxiety and emotional wellbeing on behaviour and learning

• A patient, empathetic and nurturing approach

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• The ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting pupils experiencing emotional dysregulation

• A genuine commitment to trauma-informed and child-centred practice

• A positive, flexible and team-focused attitude

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

• Commitment to safeguarding and child protection practices

• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils

• Relevant childcare, education, SEN, SEMH or support experience preferred

• Willingness to work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and external support professionals
