Job description

SEND Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to work within SEN and SEMH Settings in East Lancashire and Darwen. We have Adhoc and Temp to Perm opportunities for the right candidates.

You will be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties, working closely with teachers and support staff to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN
  • Support learning, behaviour, and emotional regulation
  • Assist with personal care where required
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and EHCPS
  • Promote positive relationships and inclusion within the classroom
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and SENCOs

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care, or youth work backgrounds welcomed)
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to support challenging behaviour when required
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
