SEND Support Assistant – Wakefield

Location: Wakefield & surrounding areas
Pay: £90 – £105 per day
Contract: Full-time | Long-term and temp-to-perm

Do you have experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs?
We’re recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Support Assistants for schools and alternative provisions across Wakefield.

This role is ideal for candidates with backgrounds in care, youth work, psychology, or education, or for those with personal experience supporting SEN who are now seeking a rewarding school-based role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with a range of needs (ASD, SEMH, MLD, PMLD)

  • Assist with personal care and moving & handling where required

  • Promote independence, communication, and emotional regulation

  • Work closely with teachers and therapists to create engaging, inclusive learning experiences

We’re looking for:

  • Experience in education, care, or SEN environments

  • DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Reliable, empathetic, and proactive individuals

  • Driving licence and own transport desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
