Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning? Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to work as a SEN Youth Worker in Schools, supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs across specialist educational settings.

Students may have needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), sensory needs, behavioural challenges, anxiety, trauma-related needs, and other complex learning difficulties.

The Role

As a SEN Youth Worker in Schools, you will provide tailored support to pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping them develop confidence, resilience, social skills, and positive relationships while encouraging engagement in education.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
• Assist pupils with social, communication, and life skills development
• Encourage participation in learning activities and enrichment sessions
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
• Support pupils through challenging situations using de-escalation techniques
• Work alongside teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams
• Promote independence, confidence, and self-esteem
• Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, care, coaching, mentoring, or support settings
• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively and professionally
• Understanding of SEN, SEMH, or additional needs is desirable
• Team Teach or behaviour management training is advantageous but not essential
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
