Welsh-Speaking SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Position

Location: Pontypridd
Start Date: April
Pay: £89 – £110 per day (paid weekly, based on experience)
Hours: Full-time (Monday – Friday, school hours)

Are you a confident Welsh speaker looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant role in Pontypridd? We are working with a Welsh-medium school in Pontypridd that is seeking a dedicated Welsh-speaking SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from 23rd February on a full-time basis.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide consistent, full-time support to pupils with additional learning needs while working through the Welsh language. The role offers the chance to build strong relationships with pupils and staff and gain valuable experience within a supportive school environment. No formal qualifications are required, making this position ideal for graduates, career changers, or experienced SEN Teaching Assistants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Supporting small group intervention sessions
  • Working with pupils through the Welsh language on a daily basis
  • Assisting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Supporting the class teacher with adapted and differentiated learning activities
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Helping to create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment

  • Confident spoken and written Welsh
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional learning needs
  • Experience in SEN, care, support work, youth work or education (desirable but not essential)
  • Availability for a full-time, long-term position
