Job description
Full-Time Teaching Assistant with SEND Experience – Wigan
Start Date: Immediate
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (dependent on experience)
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wigan is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, proactive, and passionate about helping children with additional needs succeed both academically and emotionally.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with SEN or additional needs.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
- A calm, patient, reliable, and positive approach.
- Ability to use initiative and work effectively within a team.

Key Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting relationships to support children’s confidence and engagement
- Assist with learning activities and adapt resources to meet individual needs
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, transitions, and day-to-day routines
- Encourage positive communication and social interaction
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to monitor progress and refine support strategies
- Help create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
