Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist IR unit supporting young people who face barriers to learning due to social, emotional, behavioural, and additional educational needs.

This rewarding role involves working closely with students who require tailored support to help them re-engage with education, develop positive relationships, and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and associated learning difficulties.
  • Support students in managing behaviour and emotions through positive behaviour strategies.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence, resilience, and self-esteem.
  • Encourage student participation, independence, and personal development.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers, and external professionals to support student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student engagement and achievement.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, behavioural needs, or in alternative provision settings.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to remain resilient and adaptable in challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to succeed.
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Psychology, Youth Work, or related fields are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
