SEN Teaching Assistant
Job description
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Salford from September 2026.

The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional learning and developmental needs, both within the classroom and through targeted interventions. You will play a key role in ensuring all pupils can access learning opportunities and make positive progress.
You may support pupils with:
- Additional learning needs
- Communication and interaction difficulties
- Social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Physical or sensory needs
- Moderate to complex learning difficulties
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
- Assist pupils in accessing classroom learning and activities.
- Support the delivery of tailored learning interventions.
- Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and independence.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and wider school staff.
- Monitor and record pupil progress where required.
- Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Support personal care needs where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
- Is patient, caring, and passionate about supporting pupils to succeed.
- Understands the importance of inclusive education.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is adaptable and able to respond to individual pupil needs.
- Holds a relevant qualification in education, childcare, health and social care, or a related field (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
