Sen Teaching Assistant
Job description
Pay: £14.24 – £15.86 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Location: Redbourn, St Albans, Hertfordshire
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs to achieve their full potential? Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEN school supporting pupils aged 5–19 with a range of needs, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity within a welcoming and well-resourced setting, offering ongoing professional development and fully funded training opportunities.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils' learning and development both within the classroom and in community-based activities.
- Help students work towards their individual educational and personal targets.
- Encourage independence, confidence, inclusion, and positive relationships.
- Provide personal care and physical support where required.
- Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to creating a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning.
- Is proactive, adaptable, and able to think creatively to meet individual needs.
- Enjoys practical, outdoor, and community-based learning experiences.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and a positive team-focused attitude.
- Holds GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/Level 4 or above (or an equivalent Level 2 qualification).
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
