Teaching Assistant - SEN Support (Autism)

Teaching Personnel's specialist SEN team in Norwich is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism across North Norfolk and West Norfolk. The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis, supporting their learning and development in line with their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Key Responsibilities

• Work alongside teaching staff to provide tailored support for pupils with Autism and additional needs.
• Follow EHCP targets and implement individual support strategies.
• Adapt learning activities to meet a range of learning styles and abilities.
• Promote positive behaviour, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
• Support pupils both within the classroom and during wider school activities.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who is:

• Experienced working with children or young people with SEN, particularly Autism.
• Patient, caring, and committed to supporting individual needs.
• Confident in managing challenging behaviours and de-escalating situations effectively.
• Flexible and adaptable to different school environments.
• Keen to engage in ongoing training and professional development.
• A strong communicator with excellent teamwork skills.
• In possession of a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as travel between schools and educational settings across North and West Norfolk may be required.
