1:1 ALN Support Assistant
Location: Newport
Contract: Full-time
Start: September 2026
Salary: From £92.63 per day
Progression: Long-term placement with permanent opportunities available
The Role:
Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Support Assistant to work alongside a pupil with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) within a welcoming primary school in Newport.
The successful candidate will provide tailored support to help the child access learning, build confidence, and achieve individual targets whilst developing positive relationships throughout the school day.
Responsibilities:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Supporting academic, social and emotional development
- Implementing individual support plans
- Encouraging participation in classroom activities
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
- Recording progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
What We're Looking For:
- Experience supporting children or young people
- Knowledge of ALN, Autism or additional support needs
- A calm and patient approach
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to individual pupil requirements
- Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
