SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people with complex additional needs?

We are currently recruiting for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist setting catering for children and young people aged 3–19 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).

The school’s specialist curriculum, facilities, and therapeutic approach are designed to meet the individual needs of every pupil, helping them achieve their full potential in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with complex learning difficulties, communication needs, sensory needs, and physical disabilities
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and care staff to deliver personalised support
  • Assist pupils both in the classroom and during sensory or therapeutic activities
  • Provide personal care support throughout the school day – ESSENTIAL to the role
  • Help promote independence, communication, and emotional wellbeing
  • Create positive relationships and encourage pupil engagement and development

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A valid UK driving licence – ESSENTIAL
  • Willingness and experience supporting personal care needs
  • An Enhanced Child-Only DBS on the Update Service
  • Transferable experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude

Experience in SEN education, healthcare, support work, residential care, care assistant roles, or similar backgrounds would be highly beneficial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
