Job description

Teaching Personnel is working with a number of specialist SEN schools and autism provisions across Crawley that are preparing for September 2026 intake and staffing requirements.

We are looking to hear from compassionate, patient and proactive individuals who are interested in supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs and social communication challenges.

What the role could involve

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Delivering structured learning activities alongside the class teacher
  • Using visual timetables, PECS, Makaton or other communication strategies
  • Supporting emotional regulation during periods of anxiety or sensory overload
  • Encouraging independence, life skills and positive peer interaction
  • Helping create a calm, predictable and engaging learning environment

  • Nursery/Early Years
  • Support Work or Care

What we are looking for

  • A genuine interest in autism and special educational needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Resilience, empathy and consistency
  • A willingness to learn specialist SEN strategies
  • An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to gain experience before pursuing careers in Educational Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Teaching or Clinical Psychology.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
