SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Burgess Hill
Hours: Full-time, Term Time Only
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, caring and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive two-form entry primary school in Burgess Hill.
This is a varied and rewarding role working primarily in Reception or Year 1, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of Special Educational Needs across the classroom and on a 1:1 basis. You will work closely with the SENCo and as part of a collaborative staff team to ensure all pupils are supported to thrive.
The Role

Support pupils with a range of SEN, including ASC, both 1:1 and in small groups

Work within Reception or Year 1, providing in-class and targeted intervention support

Assist the SENCo with day-to-day SEN provision and organisation

Support pupils with learning, communication, social and emotional needs

Contribute to planning, implementing and reviewing SEN strategies

Help ensure all pupils can access learning in an inclusive environment
The Ideal Candidate
-
Has experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ASC (school-based experience desirable)

Is patient, flexible and nurturing, with a strong team ethos

Can work proactively under the direction of the SENCo and class teachers
-
Has a good understanding of inclusive practice, early years/KS1 development and autism support strategies

Is organised, adaptable and committed to supporting every child to succeed

Holds a valid Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service, or is willing to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
