SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting children with autism to flourish in a calm, structured and nurturing environment? We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school for pupils with autism, starting after Easter.

This is a rewarding role where you will help children develop their communication, confidence, academic skills and independence—making a meaningful difference every day.

✨ About the Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils with autism in both classroom and social settings
• Work 1:1 and in small groups to help students access learning
• Use structured routines, visual aids and communication strategies
• Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and self‑esteem
• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists and wider support staff
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment

✅ What We’re Looking For:

• A calm, patient and empathetic individual
• Experience working with children or young people with autism (desirable)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Someone proactive and committed to inclusive education
• A willingness to learn and adapt strategies to support individual needs

Requirements:

• Experience in SEN, school or care settings is beneficial but not essential
• A valid DBS (or willingness to apply)
• Right to work in the UK
