SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate support staff for a specialist SEN school in Preston. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs on a flexible, full-time, part-time, temporary, permanent or ad-hoc basis.

This specialist setting supports pupils with a range of needs including autism, communication and interaction difficulties, sensory needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, and moderate to severe learning difficulties. The school provides a nurturing and structured environment focused on building positive relationships, emotional wellbeing and individual progress.

The successful candidates will:

  • Be calm, patient and resilient
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEN
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support students both academically and emotionally throughout the school day
  • Be adaptable and confident responding to individual pupil needs
  • Work effectively as part of a supportive staff team

The role will involve:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and communication
  • Assisting with sensory strategies and classroom routines
  • Encouraging engagement, confidence and independence
  • Supporting positive behaviour approaches across the setting

Experience within SEN, care, youth work, behaviour support or mental health support is highly desirable, although transferable experience and the right attitude will also be considered.
