Job Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant (EYFS – 1:1 Support) – Burnley Primary School
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Burnley
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (with potential for extension)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are seeking a confident, compassionate, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Burnley. This is a 1:1 role supporting a pupil in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) who requires additional help to access group and class learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with complex needs, including physical behaviours towards peers and adults.
- Help the pupil engage with group activities and classroom learning.
- Implement strategies that promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored interventions.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Ideal Candidate:
- Has experience working with children with SEN, particularly those displaying challenging behaviour.
- Is confident in managing physical behaviours in a calm and professional manner.
- Understands or is trained in trauma-informed practice.
- Is patient, resilient, and able to build trusting relationships with children.
- Holds a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN training) – desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
