Location: Burnley
Contract: Full Time, 1 Year Maternity Cover
Setting: Mainstream Primary School with SEN Unit
Phase: EYFS / KS1
Handover: Scheduled before Summer 2026

Are you a passionate and nurturing SEN Teacher looking for a rewarding long-term role? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Burnley is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to cover a year-long maternity leave, starting in September, with planned handover days before the summer break in 2026.

About the Role

This is a full-time position working within a well–resourced SEN unit attached to a mainstream primary school. You’ll be supporting pupils across EYFS and KS1 with a range of additional needs, creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering tailored teaching to small groups and individual pupils with SEN
  • Working collaboratively with support staff, SENCO, and external professionals
  • Creating differentiated learning plans to meet a range of needs
  • Monitoring progress and providing high-quality feedback
  • Supporting emotional regulation, communication, and developmental milestones
  • Ensuring safeguarding and wellbeing are at the heart of all practice

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with SEN pupils (EYFS/KS1 preferred)
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A patient, nurturing, and adaptable teaching style
  • A commitment to inclusive education and personalised learning

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
