Job description

We’re looking for an SEN Teacher to take on a small KS3 pre‑formal sensory class in a specialist setting.
The class has pupils with complex needs who communicate non‑verbally and learn best through sensory engagement, structure and co‑regulation.

You’ll be supported by a consistent team of three experienced support staff, and you’ll have the freedom to shape a calm, sensory‑rich curriculum that fits each pupil’s needs.

About the class

  • 6 pupils, all non‑verbal (one using a few key words)
  • Highly sensory approach: engagement, communication and exploration
  • Pupils rely on predictable routines and strong co‑regulation
  • Close work with therapists and the wider MDT

We’re looking for someone who

  • Has experience teaching PMLD/SLD and understands pre‑formal learning
  • Is comfortable leading a team and providing clear structure
  • Can run a timetable with TacPac, sensory stories, intensive interaction, movement and regulation
  • Prioritises engagement and wellbeing above academic outcomes
  • Works calmly and collaboratively with therapists and support staff

What you can expect

A settled class, a supportive leadership team and a clear routine already in place — they just need someone who understands pre‑formal teaching and can step in confidently.
