Job description

We are working with a specialist school in Stoke-on-Trent that is looking to appoint an SEN Teacher on a full-time, permanent basis.

The school supports children and young people with autism and associated needs. It provides a structured, calm environment where pupils benefit from small class sizes, consistent routines and a high level of individual support. There is a strong team culture across the school, and staff work closely together to ensure pupils feel safe, understood and able to engage in learning.

This role would suit a qualified teacher already working in SEN, or someone from a mainstream background who is looking to move into a specialist setting where there is more focus on individual progress and relationship-building.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a small class group, supported by teaching assistants, and will deliver a personalised curriculum linked to EHCP outcomes. You will also work alongside a wider multidisciplinary team to support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons to meet a range of needs
  • Adapt learning to support communication and engagement
  • Monitor progress against individual targets
  • Maintain a structured and predictable classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, families and external professionals

Requirements:

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs
  • A calm, consistent and patient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

The school offers a supportive leadership team, ongoing training and the opportunity to develop specialist SEN experience within a well-resourced setting.
