SEN Teacher – Secondary SEN School

Contract: Full-time, long-term

Our education recruitment agency is currently working in partnership with a specialist Secondary SEN school in Burnley to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teacher for a full-time, long-term position starting at Easter.
This specialist provision supports pupils with complex needs, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism, and Social, Emotional and Behavioural needs. The school provides a structured, supportive, and highly personalised curriculum designed to meet the individual needs of every learner.
The Role
As an SEN Teacher within this setting, you will:

Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to a wide range of complex learning needs

Adapt teaching strategies to support pupils with Autism, MLD, PMLD, and behavioural needs
-
Create a structured, nurturing classroom environment that promotes engagement and independence
-
Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff to deliver personalised learning programmes

Set achievable targets aligned with EHCP outcomes and monitor pupil progress
-
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and communication development alongside academic learning
-
Implement positive behaviour strategies in line with school policies
Teaching within an SEN provision requires creativity, flexibility, and a strong commitment to inclusive education. You will play a vital role in breaking down barriers to learning and helping pupils develop essential life skills as well as academic progress.
The Ideal Candidate

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
-
A genuine passion for working within an SEN provision
-
Strong classroom management skills
-
Patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach
-
The ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse and complex needs
Previous experience within an SEN setting is not essential. The school welcomes applications from mainstream teachers who are keen to transition into specialist education and are committed to making a meaningful difference.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
