Job description

SEN Teacher – Secondary SEN School 
Location: Burnley
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Long-term supply with potential to go temp-to-perm
Pay: Dependent on skills and experience

We are seeking a dedicated and creative SEN Teacher to join a supportive secondary SEN school specialising in students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about delivering sensory-rich, practical-based learning to students with complex needs.

About the Role

You will:

  • Deliver engaging sensory and practical lessons tailored to individual learning needs

  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including therapists and support staff

  • Create a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment

  • Use a range of communication approaches, including AAC, sensory equipment, and experiential activities

  • Contribute to personalised learning plans and holistic development

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students who require high levels of support

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with PMLD, complex needs, or severe learning difficulties

  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic teaching style

  • Ability to differentiate learning effectively and creatively

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • QTS/QTLS is preferred, though experienced unqualified teachers with strong SEN backgrounds may also be considered

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
