Science Teacher – SEN Secondary School (Stockport)

Location: Stockport
Start Date: January 2026
Contract Type: Full-time / Long-term
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Are you an experienced Science Teacher ready to make a real difference? We are seeking a passionate educator to join a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Secondary School in Stockport this January. You’ll be working with pupils who have a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). This is a unique opportunity to inspire and re-engage learners who thrive on tailored support and creative teaching approaches.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons that meet individual learning needs.
  • Create a safe, structured classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with SENCOs and support staff to implement personalised learning plans.
  • Use innovative strategies to re-engage pupils who have experienced barriers to education.
  • Monitor and assess progress, providing constructive feedback to students and staff.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives aimed at improving engagement and achievement.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Prior experience teaching Science at secondary level.
  • Strong understanding of SEN needs and strategies for supporting challenging behaviour.
  • Resilient, patient, and calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (Child & Adult Workforce) – essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
