SEN Primary Teacher – Specialist Setting (Bolton)
Location: Bolton
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time (via Teaching Personnel)
Start Date: September
Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a well-established specialist provision in Bolton to recruit a dedicated and passionate SEN Primary Teacher. This setting supports primary-aged pupils (approximately 4–11 years old) with a variety of special educational needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
- Communication and interaction needs
- Social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges
- Sensory processing needs
The school provides a nurturing, inclusive, and child-centred environment, focused on developing independence, communication skills, and emotional wellbeing. Class sizes are small, and pupils benefit from a highly supportive staff team and tailored learning approaches.
The Role
As an SEN Primary Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering personalised, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences that support every pupil’s individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons aligned with EHCP outcomes
- Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment
- Use a range of strategies to support communication, behaviour, and engagement
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and multi-agency professionals
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed
- Foster strong relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional resilience, and independence skills
✅ Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
- Experience working with SEN in a primary or specialist setting
- Strong understanding of additional needs, particularly ASC and learning difficulties
- A nurturing, patient, and proactive approach to teaching and learning
- Ability to engage and motivate pupils with diverse learning profiles
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
