SEN Play Therapist
Job description
We are seeking a dedicated Play Therapist to join a specialist setting supporting children aged 6 to 13. This full-time role involves delivering therapeutic interventions tailored to individual needs, working closely with staff to support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and development.
You will use a creative, trauma-informed approach to help children regulate emotions, build trust and engage positively with learning.
You will support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, alongside trauma-related difficulties, behavioural challenges and additional communication needs, often linked to adverse childhood experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver 1:1 and small group play therapy sessions

Support emotional regulation and social development
-
Work collaboratively with staff to meet EHCP targets
-
Monitor and record pupil progress
-
Maintain a safe and supportive therapeutic space
Requirements

Relevant play therapy or therapeutic qualification
-
Minimum 6 months childcare experience, ideally within SEN
-
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and SEMH
-
Strong communication and adaptability

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
