SEN Learning Support Assistant – Specialist School

We are recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join a welcoming specialist school in Camberley, supporting children and young people with severe learning difficulties and complex additional needs.

You don't necessarily need previous school-based experience. Experience working with children or adults with SEN, care experience, support work or similar is highly beneficial, and we would also consider candidates with the right attitude, patience and willingness to learn.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide personalised support throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties and additional needs

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support in the classroom and around school

• Helping pupils engage with learning and develop their independence

• Supporting communication, social skills and emotional development

• Encouraging pupils to participate in activities and new experiences

• Supporting pupils with their individual needs and care plans

• Providing personal care where required, including toileting, changing and other aspects of personal care

• Working closely with teachers, therapists and other members of the school team

• Helping to maintain a safe, positive and nurturing environment
