Headteacher – SEN School

Location: Warrington area
Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Start Date: September 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and inspirational Headteacher to lead a specialist SEN school providing education across both primary and secondary phases in the Warrington area. This is a permanent, full‑time role starting in September, suited to an established leader with a strong SEN background and a proven track record in school leadership.

The Role

As Headteacher, you will provide inspirational, strategic, and operational leadership to ensure the highest standards of education, care, and safeguarding for pupils with SEN. You will work closely with staff, families, governors, and external professionals to foster a positive, inclusive, and ambitious school culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong strategic leadership and vision for the school
  • Lead, motivate, and develop teaching and support staff
  • Oversee safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing of all pupils
  • Ensure high‑quality teaching, learning, and SEN provision across the school
  • Manage school performance, budgets, and resources effectively
  • Maintain compliance with Ofsted, local authority, and statutory requirements
  • Build effective relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies
  • Drive continuous improvement and positive outcomes for pupils with complex needs

Requirements

  • A minimum of 12 months’ experience as a Headteacher (essential)
  • Proven experience working within SEN settings (essential)
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong knowledge of SEN frameworks, safeguarding, and inclusive practice
  • Effective leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Commitment to high standards, pupil progress, and staff development
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one prior to start date)
