Job Title: SEN / ALN Teaching Assistant (Secondary & Specialist Provisions)

Location: Swansea & Carmarthenshire
Employer: Teaching Personnel

Salary: £92.95 per day


About the Role

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN / ALN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of secondary schools and specialist provisions in Swansea and Carmarthenshire.

This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a variety of Additional Learning Needs (ALN), helping them to access education, develop independence, and reach their full potential in a supportive and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional learning needs
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning plans
  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation, engagement, and behaviour
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support students with personal care where required

Needs You May Support

You may work with pupils experiencing a range of needs, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Complex medical needs, including end-of-life care in some specialist settings

Requirements

  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one)
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (preferred but not essential)
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of school settings and student needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
