SEMH Teaching Assistant

If so, this role is for you! A Specialist SEMH school in North Manchester are seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant to join their team!
As a Social, Emotional and Mental Health focused Teaching Assistant you will play the vital role in providing the best support possible to pupils aged 11 – 18 years old. This school is an Alternative Provision setting for pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to the following:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Anxiety and Behavioural challenges
- Communication and social interaction difficulties
- Trauma related needs
- Attention and impulsivity needs
- Often pupils have experienced disruptive education and require extensive support
The school provides excellent learning and regulation facilities, they have small, nurturing classes designed for emotional regulation. You would need a strong understanding of core subjects including maths, English and science. To support the personal development and life skills through, vocational and enrichment activities to build confidence and resilience.
Requirements:
- SEMH experience in or out of an educational setting
- Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
- Understanding of challenging behaviours
- Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
- Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
